Unfortunately I had to be absent today due to personal matters. But I guess I could write a reflection based on the presentation paper I got and my friends. In today’s class Gnawali sir taught about Suggestopaedia and Natural Approach. To talk about Suggestopaedia, it is an affective humanistic approach to dealing with language. It says that learning best takes place through para-conscious input. According to it learning takes place when desuggestation and suggestion takes place alternatively. Desuggestation is unloading the memory banks of unwanted or blocking memories while suggestion is loading the memory banks of desired and facilitating memories. Its objectives are:

1. Advanced conversational proficiency
2. Memorization of vocabulary pairs
3. Understanding and creating solutions of problems

Natural approach is based on the naturalistic principles of SLA. It is often confused with natural method, which is similar to direct method. There is an emphasis on exposure or input rather than practice and optimizing emotional preparedness.
