March 13, 2014 3 CommentsToday also Dhanapati sir constantly said that we are still going through the basics and the main part is still to come. But anyways in today’s class I mainly learnt the meaning of anaphoric and cataphoric reference. Anaphoric reference refers back to other ideas in the text for its meaning. For example in the sentence ‘I went out with John on Sunday. He looked awful’ ‘he’ clearly refers to John and there is no need to repeat same name. Meanwhile cataphoric reference refers to another word later in the text and you need to look forward to understand. For example in the sentence ‘when he arrived, John noticed that the door was open’.
Today the class was much more fun due to the fact that we were doing exercises from the internet. We used following sites for

We also learnt about different types of conjuctions, which are as followed
- Adversative:-However, On the other hand
- Temporal:- First, Then, before, after
- Additive:- And, Besides, or
- Causal:-Because, since, therefore
But the thing to consider is that the same conjunction can be of different type according to its use.

Hey Bibek, enlightening information and topic! So lucky of you guys to be able to benefit from technology in the classroom, which was the proverbial “sour grape”, or like the fruit before Tantalus’ mouth.
But, didn’t you mean (4) “causal” in the stead of “casual” ?
